I am a Desert Storm Vet, divorced twice with kids in Nebraska. I have a job that pays me well, but after taxees, child spport, mandatory health insurance coverage for the kids, I am left with $600 a month now to pay my $520 rent, electric, phone and food. I recently was given paternity paperwork from a girl from years ago that has now put me in this situation. I was struggling before to make sure that my daughter had lunches and snacks while she is over. I barely eat myself as it is. My car has a broken tie rod and isn't safe to drive. I have tried selling it but I can't seem to get any buyers even at $750.

My rent is due tomorrow and I intend to talk to my apt office to see if there is a way I can work on grounds to offset some of the rent, but its not a guaruntee. I have lived here for 3 years and because of my credit, am sure I wont get approved anywhere else. 

Im a good dad and love my kids dearly. Being homeless because of rent is a certain path to leading to losing my job, and that will put me in the rank of a statistic. Not to mention what it will do to my relationship with the kids, as I won't be able to see them again until I have somewhere to live, which won't be easy if I lose my job.

I have an appt at the VA HOsp on the 9th of SEpt to check out some health issues that have started showing up that are possibly related to my time in Desert Storm. If they require surgery, it will put me on disability pay at work, but that is only 60% of the pay check. THis will put me in worse shape than I currently am. I feel really trapped and am scared to even think about where I may be even 1 week from now.

 I am trying to find a part time job nearby that I can walk to, but until then, I desperately need help to cover my bills and make sure that I have lunch type food for my daughter when she is here 4 days a week.

Anyone...please?
